I really enjoyed this part, it felt like a warm up to what is to come.
Only thing I was a little lost at times due to being used to “key steps in illustration” format, I thought it best to treat like any sketchbook and go with my own creative flow and thoughts.
Such as not overwhelm myself with looking at so many artist at once, I believe who we “study” and take inspiration from shape us as artist and illustrators we grow into, and that should be given time, consideration to plant those creative seeds.
My artists in this part ended up being Abebanji Alade, Danny Gregory, Frida Kahlo and Candy Jernigon. I’m already being shaped and thinking differently by these, I started this part with no real drive to “write in my sketchbooks” I end with this part by wanting to be more personal, give more insight in my pages, not as I intend for others to view and understand, but for myself.
I liked the way Gregory used text and illustrations, I found a new deeper love for the things around me that normally get over looked by Jernigon, guess you could say “fresher” eyes to see things deeper. With Kahlo I found I wanted to make my sketchbook with more meaning and even more connection to me, what is my “story”. Lastly with Alade I found a passion, I want to get out into the world and sketch, not just for the purposes of this unit but far beyond.
I hope I’m going about this the right way, yet still being true to myself ?
Am also going to have a pdf booklet for my digital sketchbook pages at the end.
My highlight (images)
The above image was a turning point to me, I found a way I “liked” how to add text to my sketchbook pages.
This one I like for the corner, personal reason and I do love this sketch of my children.
My first ever youtube video and sketchbook tour!
Finally this page in my sketchbook, as I started to get personal!
